2010 Rulebook rewrite

I’m not planning on a massive shake-up, just to make it clearer and easy to use with no cross-referencing to different sections. As examples: if I’m a parent volunteering at the high jump, there’s only one small bit I need to read to be clued-up on all the rules; if I want to run an IUF-standard MUni event I just need the MUni section; If I’m only entering Standard Skill I just need to refer to that section (if that ever happens in reality, feel free to shoot me though).

Proposed layout of new Rulebook
Chapters:
- Introduction
- General Rules (plus possibly a separate chapter specific to Unicons)
- Freestyle
- Standard Skill
- Track and Field
- Road Racing
- Off Road Racing (MUni)
- Hockey
- Basketball
- Street
- Flatland
- Trials
- World Records
- Skill Levels

Each discipline will be subdivided into the following:
- Introduction (about the discipline)
- Unicycle restrictions
- Safety requirements
- Facilities / area required
- Officials required
- Rules (specific to each discipline to as per current sections)

Time plan
Stage 1: The layout (chapters, organisation of chapters, format, etc) will be agreed between a few people (the Board).
Stage 2: I will set the Rulebook out into the new sections in detail as a first draft.
Stage 3: Once I’m happy with it, a quick review between those involved in Stage 1.
Stage 4: Open to others that wanted to be involved for reviewing / amending the whole thing or their specialist section.
Stage 5: Once we’re happy with it all then inform all members of the current Rulebook Committee to review within a set time period. Using the current rulebook system is probably best, but with shorter timescales.

Skill Levels don't belong to the rulebook as they aren't used for competition. They need to go seperate and got anyways replaced by the new skill levels towards the end of the year.

I thought that it would be a useful part to keep: they're the last chapter of the current rulebook.
We could also add an appendix about the IUF: full constitution, etc?

I disagree. I think Skill Levels do belong in the rulebook. It's the rules for Skill levels, which are part of unicycling, even if it's not about competition. If it doesn't go in the Rulebook where would it go?

Just as World Records aren't necessarily about competition either- winning the high jump at Unicon is not necessarily the same as setting a world record high jump.

Skill Levels should go separate. We can't just put everything unicycling into one document...
I have some ideas, next IUF Meeting or if I could talk to Ryan earlier, I will post them.

Is it worth to have a Unicon (World Championships) Section, that lists everything Unicon specific, like Limitations, Word Champions, etc? So, the rest is still applicable to every unicycle competition with sth. Unicon specific.
